YOU WANT TO GO PRO — BUT YOU DON’T KNOW HOW FAR YOU REALLY ARE

This is one of the biggest problems in football.

Not lack of talent.
Not lack of work.

Lack of clarity.

You train.
You play.
You try.

But deep inside, you don’t know:

Am I close?
Am I far?
Am I even going in the right direction?

And this uncertainty destroys progress.

THE REAL PROBLEM: YOU DON’T HAVE A REAL REFERENCE POINT

Most players compare themselves to the wrong people.

  • teammates

  • local opponents

  • players from their league

But this means nothing.

Why?

Because your environment can lie to you.

You can be the best player in your team…
and still be far from professional level.

Or:

You can feel average…
and actually be closer than you think.

Without the right reference, you are guessing.

STEP 1: COMPARE YOURSELF TO THE NEXT LEVEL — NOT YOUR CURRENT ONE

If you play in a lower league, don’t analyze that level.

Study the level above you.

Ask:

  • How fast do they play?

  • How fast do they decide?

  • How intense are their actions?

  • How clean is their technique under pressure?

This is your real benchmark.

Not where you are.

But where you want to go.

STEP 2: BREAK YOUR GAME INTO 5 KEY AREAS

To understand your level, you must analyze specific elements.

Not “I play well” or “I play bad”.

Break it down:

  1. First touch

  2. Decision making

  3. Intensity (speed + reactions)

  4. Positioning

  5. Mentality (focus, reactions after mistakes)

Now ask honestly:

Which of these is holding me back?

Because usually…

It’s not everything.

It’s 1–2 things that block your progress.

STEP 3: TEST YOURSELF IN HARDER CONDITIONS

Training in comfort gives false confidence.

You must challenge yourself.

  • play against better players

  • train in smaller spaces

  • play faster than you are used to

This will expose the truth.

And that’s good.

Because now you know what to fix.

STEP 4: RECORD YOUR GAME — SEE THE REALITY

Your feeling is not reality.

Video is.

When you watch yourself, you will notice:

  • late decisions

  • bad positioning

  • missed options

Things you didn’t feel during the match.

This is one of the fastest ways to understand your level.

STEP 5: GET EXTERNAL FEEDBACK

You need someone objective.

Not a friend.
Not someone who just says “you’re good”.

Someone who understands football.

Ask:

What am I missing to go higher?

Be ready for uncomfortable answers.

That’s where growth starts.

STEP 6: IDENTIFY YOUR “LEVEL BLOCKER”

Every player has one.

The thing that stops them from moving up.

Examples:

  • good technique, but slow decisions

  • fast player, but bad positioning

  • talented, but weak mentality

Find yours.

Because until you fix it…

You will stay at the same level.

STEP 7: BUILD A PLAN — NOT HOPE

Once you know your weakness:

Attack it.

Daily.

Specifically.

Not “I will improve”.

But:

  • what exactly

  • how often

  • how you measure it

Progress is not random.

It is built.

FINAL MESSAGE

You don’t need more motivation.

You need more clarity.

Because hard work without direction…

Is just effort.

But hard work with understanding…

Is progress.

So stop guessing.

Start analyzing.

Because the moment you understand where you are…

Is the moment you start moving forward.
