Last weekend, Niclas Schøth Semmen made his debut on the Eliteserien pitch for KFUM Oslo. There would be nothing special about this information if it were not for the fact that the 21-year-old has played his entire career for Drøbak-Frogn, a small club that plays at the fifth level of the league.
Semmen joined KFUM Oslo earlier this year from Drøbak-Frogn. The striker, with no experience at a more serious level, signed an amateur contract that prevented him from playing in the Eliteserien. The 21-year-old played in the fourth-league reserves, but got his chance in the first rounds of the Norwegian Cup.
In Drøbak-Frogn, Semmen had a fantastic 2023 season. At the beginning of the league competition, he was moved from the position of a central midfielder to an attacker, thanks to which he scored 39 goals in… 20 matches in the 4th division. This did not escape the attention of larger clubs, which wrote his name down in their notebooks.
In recent months, Semmen has been training with the first team and trying to adapt to the professional, top-league level. And at the end of July, this romantic story accelerated. On July 27, the 21-year-old signed his first professional contract, and on August 4, he appeared on the pitch in the 86th minute of the Fredrikstad - KFUM Oslo match.
Niclas Schøth Semmen has practically made movie history in recent months. Last season he played in the amateur V-level league, and he even played in the VI league reserves. Today he lives the life of a full-time football player with the prospect of further appearances in the Eliteserien.
Through this story, I would like to remind you that it doesn't matter what level you play at, because if you have a goal and you work one hundred percent every day to achieve it, sometimes an opportunity may come that can change everything!
But you have to work hard and not give up now!
