SHE WAS A REFUGEE. YEARS LATER, SHE PLAYED AT THE FIFA WORLD CUP. MOTIVATIONMONDAY363

Ode Fulutudilu was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a child, she had to leave her country because of conflict.

Her family moved to South Africa, where she grew up as a refugee.

Life was not easy. She faced uncertainty, financial difficulties and the challenge of building a future in a new country.

But football became an important part of her life.

  1. FOOTBALL WAS NOT HER ONLY RESPONSIBILITY

Ode understood that becoming a professional footballer was not guaranteed.

She continued her education, attended university and worked as a social worker.

  1. SHE REFUSED TO GIVE UP FOOTBALL

Despite her responsibilities, she continued playing and improving.

She eventually earned opportunities to play professionally, including in Finland and Spain.

  1. HER DREAM BECAME REALITY

In 2019, Ode represented South Africa at the FIFA Women's World Cup in France.

The girl who had once fled her country was now competing on one of football's biggest stages.

  1. WHAT CAN YOUNG PLAYERS LEARN?

You may have to work, study or support your family while pursuing football.

That does not automatically mean your journey is over.

Keep developing your abilities, compete at the highest level available to you and take your education seriously.

FINAL MESSAGE

Ode Fulutudilu's story reminds us that there is no single road to professional football.

Your circumstances may make the journey harder.

But they do not have to define your entire future.

YOUR STARTING POINT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR FINISHING POINT.
