7 WAYS TO MAKE 30 MINUTES OF EXTRA TRAINING MORE EFFECTIVE THAN 2 HOURS OF RANDOM WORK

More training doesn't automatically make you better.

Thirty focused minutes can give you more than two hours of random exercises.

The key is quality.

Here are seven ways to make every extra session count.

  1. CHOOSE ONE MAIN GOAL

Don't train everything.

Choose one specific problem.

Weak foot.

First touch.

Finishing.

Passing.

Spend most of the session attacking that weakness.

  1. PLAN BEFORE YOU START

Don't arrive at the pitch and think:

"What should I do today?"

Know your exercises before you start.

Example:

5 minutes warm-up.

20 minutes focused work.

5 minutes testing.

No wasted time.

  1. COUNT QUALITY REPETITIONS

Don't train by time alone.

Set a target.

100 accurate passes.

30 controlled first touches.

25 finishes with your weak foot.

Count successful repetitions, not just attempts.

  1. INCREASE THE DIFFICULTY

When an exercise becomes easy, change it.

Use fewer touches.

Increase speed.

Reduce the target.

Use your weaker foot.

Add pressure when possible.

Your training must progress with you.

  1. TRAIN AT MATCH SPEED

Perfect technique at walking speed isn't enough.

Once you understand the movement, increase the intensity.

Receive.

Decide.

Execute.

Recover.

Your technique must survive when football becomes fast.

  1. STAY COMPLETELY FOCUSED

Thirty minutes means thirty minutes.

Put your phone away.

Don't spend five minutes between exercises.

Don't talk constantly.

Treat every repetition like it matters.

When your concentration drops badly, quality drops too.

  1. FINISH WITH A TEST

Use the final five minutes to measure yourself.

For example:

20 passes at a target.

10 weak-foot finishes.

10 first touches into a specific area.

Record your score.

Repeat the same test next week.

Now you know whether your training is actually working.

FINAL MESSAGE

Stop believing that longer automatically means better.

Use this formula:

ONE GOAL.

SIMPLE PLAN.

QUALITY REPETITIONS.

PROGRESSIVE DIFFICULTY.

MATCH SPEED.

FULL FOCUS.

MEASURE THE RESULT.

Do that consistently and 30 minutes becomes valuable.

Don't collect training hours.

COLLECT IMPROVEMENT.

And remember: extra training must fit around your team training, matches and recovery. If your body is exhausted, another hard session may hurt your development instead of helping it.
