Every player has periods when progress seems to stop.
You train. You play. You work hard.
But you don't feel faster, stronger or better than you were months ago.
Don't automatically think you have reached your limit.
Change something.
-
COMPARE YOURSELF TO 6 MONTHS AGO
Don't rely only on feelings.
Watch an old full match and compare it with a recent one.
Look at your first touch, decisions, movement, duels, speed and mistakes.
You may discover progress you didn't notice — or problems that haven't changed.
-
ASK SOMEONE FOR THE TRUTH
Ask your coach:
“What are the 2–3 things stopping me from becoming a better player?”
Don't ask for compliments.
Ask for information you can use.
Sometimes another person sees weaknesses you don't see yourself.
-
STOP TRAINING EVERYTHING
More training doesn't always mean more development.
Choose ONE important weakness.
Poor weak foot?
Bad first touch?
Slow decisions?
Poor finishing?
Weak physically?
Work specifically on that problem for the next 4–6 weeks.
-
MAKE YOUR TRAINING HARDER
Your body adapts.
If you have been doing exactly the same exercises for months, they may no longer challenge you.
Increase the speed.
Reduce the space.
Use fewer touches.
Add an opponent.
Make decisions.
Measure results.
Create progression.
-
PLAY AGAINST BETTER PLAYERS
If everything feels easy, find difficulty.
Train with older players.
Play against stronger opponents.
Look for opportunities at a higher level.
Better players expose your weaknesses quickly.
That is valuable information.
-
CHANGE WHAT YOU MEASURE
Don't only count goals and assists.
A midfielder can track forward passes and ball losses.
A winger can track successful 1v1s and chances created.
A defender can track duels and positioning mistakes.
A striker can track shots, box entries and scoring chances.
Measure things connected to YOUR position.
-
FIX YOUR PHYSICAL BASE
Sometimes your football isn't the main problem.
Maybe you are constantly tired.
Maybe you lack strength or speed.
Maybe your recovery is poor.
Look at your sleep, nutrition, strength, conditioning and recovery.
A better body can allow you to show more of your football ability.
-
LEARN FROM SOMEONE BETTER
Choose a professional player in your position.
Don't only watch highlights.
Watch an entire match.
Study:
Where does he stand?
When does he move?
When does he scan?
What does he do before receiving?
What does he do after losing the ball?
Choose ONE behaviour and try to add it to your game.
-
CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT IF NECESSARY
Sometimes you have developed beyond what your environment can offer.
Ask yourself:
Does training still challenge me?
Do coaches help me improve?
Am I playing enough?
Are my teammates pushing me?
Can I develop further here?
You don't need to leave immediately.
But if the answers remain negative for months, you may need a new challenge.
-
BUILD A NEW 30-DAY TARGET
Don't say:
“I want to become professional.”
That's the dream.
Create a target you can actually attack NOW.
For example:
Improve weak-foot passing accuracy.
Become stronger in defensive duels.
Create more chances every match.
Improve acceleration.
Reduce unnecessary ball losses.
Work on it for 30 days.
Then test yourself again.
FINAL MESSAGE
Feeling stuck doesn't automatically mean you lack talent.
Sometimes it means your current method has stopped producing results.
So don't just TRAIN MORE.
Analyse.
Find the problem.
Change the stimulus.
Measure your performance.
Get honest feedback.
Challenge yourself.
Then repeat.
Your question shouldn't be:
“WHY AM I NOT GETTING BETTER?”
Ask:
“WHAT DO I NEED TO CHANGE TO START GETTING BETTER AGAIN?”
PROGRESS DOESN'T ALWAYS REQUIRE MORE WORK.
SOMETIMES IT REQUIRES BETTER WORK.
SUPPORT FOR PLAYERS
For 6 years, we have been helping less-known players completely for free — guiding them, giving honest feedback, and creating real football opportunities. During this time, we have completed over 25 player transfers to clubs across Europe.
If you value our work and want to help us continue supporting players worldwide, you can support us here:

Every supporter will have the chance to speak personally with me.
I will check your level, give you real feedback, and guide you individually.
The most determined players receive invitations for official trials.
